Journal 6 CST/IST

  1. What CST and IST grade what you allocate yourself for this project? Justify your response.  I think I will allocate myself a B because I think I am doing work but I am not working hard enough.
  2. What could you do tonight that would improve your grade?  What I can do, I can start fixing up all the things that I need to do for the rest of this project.
  3. What grade do you think your team will give you for teamwork? Why? I reccomend a B because we all work together on the project but we don’t work hard enough. 
  4. Thinking about your presentation on Monday, what do you need to do to score an “A” grade? (hint: Look at the presentation skills). What could you do before Monday, to ensure you receive an “A”?

Need to only use palm cards, use eye contact to the audience and answer the questions correctly.

  • What influences your values about issues relating to your life?

The media can change the value of my life because the way that the media present it, it can change your thought on things.


  • Do you ever compare images/values presented by the media to those of the bible? If so why? If not why not?

Sometimes because some things that are in the media are true but other thing in the media are false and have no meaning to what they are saying.

  • Has this project challenged you to examine your values? Why / Why not

Yes it has because it really tells me all the problems around the world and the danger people are really in.

They protray were talking about social justice in the world and they talk about what people say.

  • Has it been difficult to find articles on social justice issues why/why not?

Yes because there are alot of articles, but there are no articles that i need to find about abortion.

 

  • Do you think that the media operates from a moral framework? Give evidence by using your research.

Yes because they bring alot of opinions that people have and the opinins have differents says about abortion.

1. Open and read the “How to write a critique” document in the resources menu.

Describe what is a critique.

A critique is alking about an object or someone that has said something wrong. They also talk about the facts of a subject. 

2. Outline the FOUR stages in a critique.

3. Can a critique be positive? Discuss.

Can a critique be positive? No because a critique is telling a fact about someone or something.

Individual Task 4 – Ethical principles Watch the following clips on the Dalia Lama:

Answer the following questions on your blog:

1.) Give a brief description of who the Dalai Lama is? (Include resources to support)

Dalai Lama was a Tiberian Leader who had to resign because of a riot. In the atricle it says THE Dalai Lama said today he would resign as Tibetan leader if the situation went out of control in Tibet, and he denied accusations from China that he was inciting violence.

2.) Evaluate how the actions of the Dalai Lama in regard to the riots in Tibet would be regarded as exemplary moral integrity.
He did the right thing by resigning because if he kept on going it would be a bigger riot

Individual Task 3 – Ethical principles Watch the following clip on Maximillian Kolbe:

1.) Define the term ‘moral integrity’
Moral integrity is a complex and subtle ethical impression


2.) Describe why Maximillian Kolbe is regarded as a Christian of exemplary moral integrity.

Because he did what was right, he was a priest in the church and he listen to confessions and sins and he forgave them.

3.) Outline Maximillians ethical actions/principles that he demonstrated in Auschwitz.

He forgave the sin and he smuggled bread to help the starved and he help people who was less fortunate then he was.

4.) Evaluate whether you think he made the right decision and provide research to support your answer. i.e. Catholic teachings.

Yes he did make the  right because he was a Jesus like person and he gave his life for a man he did not even know because that is what Jesus did for all of us.

Journal 61.) Define the term “Moral Maturity”

The meaning of moral maturity is  depth and consistency  of  moral judgement2.) Read the following article:

Discuss the reasons why the 25 year old man mentioned in the article would be regarded as having a lack of ‘moral maturity’.

Because he didn’t won’t to get caught because he was going to get punished and he was scared that if he turned himself in he would get punished.3.) Identify the differences between ‘morality’ and ‘immorality’.

Morality is conformity to the rules of right conduct; moral or virtuous conduct. Immorality is immoral quality, character, or conduct; wickedness; evilness.4.) Watch the following clip and describe the reasons why Governor Spitzer’s actions would be regarded as ‘immoral’.

Because he didn’t think about his family and career and he didn’t think about anything.

1.) Describe the Australian Governments NetAlert program? This helps children practice how to use the internet safely, it also teaches parents how to block sites that are not suitable for children.

2.) Discuss the reasons why they have implemented such a program? So that chlidren do not access sites that are not suitable for them, it also teaches them not to speak to people they don’t know for example bebo, Myspace or MSN.

“A multimedia system is an information system that combines at least TWO to THREE types of media, such as text, hypertext, audio, images, animations and video”.
1.) Provide a description and an example of each type of media listed above.

2.) Outline THREE problems with the design of the following powerpoint slide.

It gets a little boring just looking at the slides when you can let the audience watch a movie about the subject.

You won’t get good marks.

Something could go wrong.
