ANALYSING THE RABBIT DOUBLE PAGE 9

Posted in SOCIAL STUDIES on March 12, 2008 by jhaddad

The message of the rabbit is telling us about the Aboriginal and how they were taken from their land and how their children were taken away from their family.

Representational
The paticipants are the Rabbits, they represent the British and were chosen because rabbits breed fast and theat grass and destroy the environment. Kangaroos represent the Aboriginals because kangaroos are native animal. The first visual image that I see of the page is big machines cutting the grass and the trees.  The significant the reading path has is it is showing that the machines are big and strong and the are in control. The author it is telling us that the British had the bigger strength and power and they were taking over. There was a grass and trees that were being cut down and there was a track this might say that they are everywhere. The red colour on the whole page symbolise danger and emergency straight away and progress. You can also see the birds flying away because all of the trees have been cut down by the machines. You can also see in the background that all of the trees and grass being cut down that means they are neally in control.

Interactive

When we look at the page we see that the machines cover the whole page and it is telling us that the Rabbits are taking control of the land. The rabbit are in control and they have the power to do anything to the kangaroo, the rabbit are in bright colour because they are powerful and they are in control. The text is red and that stands for danger and emergency. The background is red because the area is in danger and you can see the birds fly away because you can see the tree all cut down and the grass being cut. The gaze of the 2 pages shows that the machines are big and strong and the camera angle is low angle showing that the machine have power and in the background where you can see the grass and trees being cut down that is a high angle because the land has no power. The machine are offer because they are not looking directly at the camera because the machines have no respect to the audience.

 Compositional

The most salient feature of the text are the machine because it stands out in the pictures and it is in red because it is showing that the machines are danger. Another salient are the trees and the grass being cut down and it show that the rabbit are not scare to do anything. The distance of the machine are close up and this shows that the machines are big and strong. The picture is mainly set out to show the rabbits are in charge and they are ready to take over the land. Th e atmosphere is rough and it is not peaceful it is danger and the machines are loud. You can also see the air being polluted by the machines and you can see fire that have been started where the grass and the trees were. You can also see the land there is no trees because they cut by the machines and the land is plain you can not see anything.

The message of the Rabbit is saying how the Aboriginals were kicked of the land and how their children were taken away by the Europeons. The colour of the sky and the machine are red and this means danger is coming to the people. The machines are really big and that shows that the British has power and is in controll of the Aboriginal. The particapants on the page are the machines and that represents the British people. The colour is red and red represents danger and black represents death and the death and danger is coming to the Aboriginal people.

My Poem (ASSESSMENT)

Aboriginal Death-Song

Henry Kendall

FEET of the flying, and fierce
Tops of the sharp-headed spear,
Hard by the thickets that pierce,
Lo! they are nimble and near. Women are we, and the wives
Strong Arrawatta hath won;
Weary because of our lives,
Sick of the face of the sun.

Koola, our love and our light,
What have they done unto you?
Man of the star-reaching sight,
Dipped in the fire and the dew.

Black-headed snakes in the grass
Struck at the fleet-footed lord—
Still is his voice at the pass,
Soundless his step at the ford.

Far by the forested glen,
Starkly he lies in the rain;
Kings of the council of men
Shout for their leader in vain.

Yea, and the fish-river clear
Never shall blacken below
Spear and the shadow of spear,
Bow and the shadow of bow.

Hunter and climber of trees,
Now doth his tomahawk rust,
(Dread of the cunning wild bees),
Hidden in hillocks of dust.

We, who were followed and bound,
Dashed under foot by the foe,
Sit with our eyes to the ground,
Faint from the brand and the blow.

Dumb with the sorrow that kills,
Sorrow for brother and chief,
Terror of thundering hills,
Having no hope in our grief,

Seeing the fathers are far
Seeking the spoils of the dead
Left on the path of the war,
Matted and mangled and red.

What the poem is talking about is the Aboriginal people taken away, their lives haves also been taken away and the pain that they went through when the British people came from England.  I t really gets through to you when some people have came from no where and just steal your generation,  the land and take away all the food the Aboriginals.
